Weather service: Aroostook County residents may wake up to frost on Friday

By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

CARIBOU, Maine — Summer may have just unofficially ended with the Labor Day weekend, but Aroostook County residents may see an early taste of fall late Thursday and into Friday morning.

The National Weather Service in Caribou said Wednesday morning portions of Aroostook County will be under a risk of frost Thursday and into Friday.

Temperatures overnight Thursday and Friday morning are expected to be in the low- to mid-30s, meteorologist Mark Bloomer said.

Bloomer said northern and western portions of The County are likely to see a hard frost, while eastern sections of The County may see a light frost.

Bloomer said a frost is rare for the second weekend of September. Typically, northern Maine will start to see frost conditions in mid- to late-September.
