BANGOR, Maine — The Cross Insurance Center and the Maine Potato Board have reached an agreement that will make Maine potatoes the official potato of the new arena, according to a Tuesday news release.

Maine potatoes will be offered at concession stands and catered events at the Cross Insurance Center. A baked potato bar will offer Maine potatoes and a variety of toppings.

“We’re very pleased to have this opportunity to partner with Global Spectrum, operators of the facility, and Ovations, the providers of food and beverage for the Cross Insurance Center to further promote the Maine potato and to make it available to those enjoying various events at this new Bangor venue,” said Don Flannery, executive director of the Maine Potato Board. “Maine people know the quality of our potatoes and the long heritage that the industry has in Maine, this is one more very public way to focus on our industry. We are looking forward to the opportunity to showcase the many and varied products that are produced by the Maine potato industry.”

The Cross Insurance Center is having its ribbon-cutting ceremony on Sept. 10, followed by a community open house on Sept. 14.
