Easton boys edge Ashland

ASHLAND, Maine — Logan Halverson, Ian Sotomayor, Drew Sotomayor and Cody Halverson netted one goal apiece to lead Easton to a 4-3 schoolboy soccer win over Ashland Tuesday.

Cody Sotomayor chipped in with one assist while Jake Flewelling made eight saves on 11 shots.

Nicholas Belanger converted two penalty kicks for Ashland, which got a goal from Cody Blair, assisted by Jarrett Beaulier. Tim Tarr made eight stops on 12 shots.

Van Buren 3, Fort Fairfield 3

At Van Buren, Justin Sytulek scored the equalizer for the home team with 4:25 remaining and the teams battled to an overtime tie.

Jake Rioux added a goal and an assist for Van Buren while Noah Lajoie scored a goal.

Lance McKerney, Johney Theriault and Chris Giverson scored goals for Fort Fairfield. Ryan Player added an assist.

Madawaska 3, Houlton 0

At Madawaska, Ian Lee had two goals and an assist. Sam Cyr and Travis Thibeault added a goal apiece and Jake Gendreau had an assist. Tim Deschenes made four saves on four shots for the 2-0 Owls.

Kole Buzzeo made 7 saves on 11 shots for 0-1 Houlton.

Wisdom 9, Limestone 1

At Limestone, Evan Esancy scored two goals in each half to spark the Pioneers to victory over the Eagles.

Shane Chamberland also registered a hat trick, including two second-half goals, and posted two assists for Wisdom of St. Agatha. Kevin Chamberland added two goals and an assist while Luke Lizotte set up two goals.

Chad Gervais made six saves on nine shots.

Chris Bernier scored on a Sam Kupiec assist for Limestone Community School/Maine School of Science and Mathematics. David Smith made 13 saves and faced 33 shots.

Girls Soccer

Madawaska 3, Houlton 1

At Madawaska, Desirea Belanger scored two first-half goals to help propel Madawaska to victory in their home opener.

Aspen Cote opened the scoring with a goal early in the first half for 1-1 Madawaska. Alexis Levesque made seven saves on 14 shots.

Katie Condon tallied the goal for 0-1 Houlton. Bre Longstaff made six saves on 13 shots.

Limestone 5, Wisdom 0

At Limestone, Chelsey Pelkey scored 34 seconds into the game to set the tone for the Eagles’ victory.

Ellyzabeth Bencivenga scored two first-half goals on Maria Williams assists for Limestone Community School/Maine School of Science and Mathematics.

Williams scored twice in the second half for the 1-1 winners, with assists going to Melissa Cantafio and Jackie Peers. Jordyn Hopkins and Peers combined on the shutout.

Taylor Hobbs came up with 22 saves on 34 shots for 0-3 Wisdom of St. Agatha.
