BATH, Maine — A Phippsburg man was arrested early Monday and charged with burglary after police say he broke into Beale Street Barbeque Sunday night and stole hundreds of dollars’ worth of liquor.

Joshua Robinson, 27, was charged with Class C burglary and Class E theft, Bath police Lt. Robert Savary said Monday.

Police allegedly found Robinson around 1:30 a.m. Monday, hiding beside a truck near Smith Cleaners, across the street from the restaurant. Savary said between $300 and $500 worth of liquor was on the ground near the truck, along with a tool, wax paper, a knife from the restaurant and Robinson’s cellphone.

A search of the area then revealed that Beale Street Barbeque had been burglarized, with the culprit breaking in through a side window.

Robinson was released from the Bath police station on $1,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in West Bath District Court.
