FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — Police are seeking the public’s help to find a convicted felon who allegedly threatened several people with a firearm over the weekend.
Fort Fairfield Police Chief Bill Campbell said Monday afternoon that police are seeking Michael Charm, 32, of Presque Isle, who allegedly brandished a .22-caliber rifle inside a home on Houlton Road on Saturday afternoon.
Police said that when they got to the home, the residents were outside and they believed Charm was inside. They tried to make contact with Charm by cellphone but were unsuccessful. Police eventually went in the home and secured his loaded rifle.
A family member told police that Charm was on the railroad tracks near Bryant Pond Road. Police searched for several hours, but Charm was able to elude capture.
Once he is arrested, Charm will be charged with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, terrorizing and violation of conditions of release.
Charm was last seen wearing a blue-and-gray long-sleeve shirt and jeans, and may be headed to Bangor or to West Haven, Conn. He has short brown hair, hazel eyes, weighs 140 pounds and is 5 feet, 8 inches tall. He is not believed to be armed but should not be approached.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Fort Fairfield Police Department at 472-3808 or the Maine State Police at 532-5400.
