SEBAGO, Maine — A man was impaled on a small tree when he was ejected from his dirt bike after a crash Sunday morning, according to a Maine Warden Service press release.
Warden Service spokesman Cpl. John MacDonald reported that Scott Killton, 32 of Naples was riding his Yamaha dirt bike with four other friends, also on dirt bikes, in the vicinity of 575 Hancock Pond Road in Sebago on the narrow gauge railroad ATV trial system.
While riding, Killton struck a small stump in the trail and was ejected. He landed on a small, one-inch wooden stick and it became impaled in his lower back/abdomen. Killton was treated at the scene by Sebago EMS and was then transported by LifeFlight to Maine Medical Center in Portland. All riders were in compliance and riding with full safety gear, including helmets. No prosecution is expected in the incident.
