DEXTER, Maine — A local man was summoned after admitting to police he was cultivating marijuana behind his home.

Dexter police received information that Roland Frost, 37, of Dexter, was growing marijuana behind his home along Dover Road on Route 7, Chief Kevin Wintle said on Friday.

Wintle and Officers Gary Morin and Dana Gatcomb spoke with Frost on Thursday, and he admitted to growing the plants, said Wintle.

“I spoke to him about it, and he confessed,” he said. “He took full responsibility for it. He was cooperative and showed us where the plants were.”

Police took numerous marijuana plants into custody. The fully grown plants were not grown on Frost’s land, said Wintle.

Frost was charged with cultivating marijuana, a Class D misdemeanor which carries a sentence of up to a year in jail and a maximum $2,000 fine. He is scheduled to appear in Newport District Court Oct. 16.
