YORK, Maine — Vice President Joe Biden is scheduled to attend a private fundraiser Thursday in the Cape Neddick section of town in support of New Hampshire Gov. Maggie Hassan, who is due to run for re-election next year.

However, as recently as Tuesday, Biden was reported to be in Houston with his son, Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden, where the younger Biden is undergoing medical tests. It’s not clear how long the vice president will stay with him or whether it could affect his trip for the Hassan fundraiser.

The vice president’s office on Monday confirmed Biden is scheduled to attend the event, which is expected to be held at the Shore Road home of Democratic lobbyist James Demers. According to York assessing records, Demers owns a home at 405 Shore Road.

The Maine fundraiser is being hosted by Demers, former Maine Gov. John Baldacci and Maine lobbyist Severin Beliveau.

Biden is expected to land at Portsmouth International Airport at Pease. The Federal Aviation Commission confirmed that airspace in the vicinity of Portsmouth, N.H., will be restricted Thursday.

The Maine chapters of the Sierra Club and are encouraging members to greet the vice president as he enters the private residence.

Members of both organizations are expected to carry placards encouraging Biden to “stand with us against tar sands.”

The 350 Maine Facebook page about the event said the group is concerned about the Portland-Montreal Pipe Line and the Keystone XL pipeline.
