Ashland girls edge Easton in overtime; boys team battle to 1-1 tie

EASTON — Caitlin Paradis’ unassisted goal with 1:35 left in overtime lifted the Ashland Hornets to a 3-2 victory over the Easton Bears Tuesday in high school girls soccer action.

Ashland’s Marissa Chasse scored two second-half goals to send the game into overtime after Easton had taken a 2-0 lead. Chasse scored unassisted with about 11 minutes left in regulation and added another unassisted goal with 58 seconds left to tie the game.

Taylor Brown scored a first-half goal for Easton off a Kylee Carter assist. Carter chipped in with a goal with about 12 minutes left in the second half when she converted a Cassie Buck pass for a goal.

Easton goalie Hannah Ferris made 12 saves on 25 shots. Ashland goalie Macie Ballanceau made 12 saves on 20 shots.

Ashland is 1-0 and Easton is 1-1.

At Easton, Drew Sotomayor scored off a Logan Halvorson assist with 11:55 left in the second half, helping Easton earn a tie against Ashland after two overtimes.

Jake Flewelling saved 10 of 16 shots for the 1-0-1 Bears.

Cody Blair scored an unassisted goal for the 0-0-1 Hornets with 31:24 left in the first half. Tim Tarr saved 17 of 31 shots.
