VASSALBORO, Maine — Two Vassalboro men were killed Monday afternoon in a head-on crash on Route 201 in Vassalboro.

Just before 3 p.m., a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado headed north and driven by Kenneth Lee, 63, apparently crossed into the southbound lane and struck a 1998 Dodge Ram truck driven by 32-year-old Shawn Greenleaf, according to Sgt. Mike Pion of the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office.

Greenleaf was deceased when emergency personnel arrived, Pion said Tuesday.

Lee was extricated from his vehicle and suffered severe trauma to his abdomen and a significant leg wound. He died on the way to the hospital.

Pion said his reconstruction of the crash continued on Tuesday morning, but neither speed nor alcohol appear to be factors in the crash.

Route 201 was closed to traffic until approximately 7:20 p.m. Monday.
