ORONO and PRESQUE ISLE – Barbara (Roben) Ledger, 91, wife of 67 years to Floyd Ledger, died peacefully Aug. 17, 2013, at a Bangor nursing home facility. She was born May 24, 1922, in Houlton, the daughter of Walter B. and Annie J. (Smith) Roben.
Barbara attended Houlton schools and graduated from Ricker Classical Institute.
She was employed at the Presque Isle Army/Air Force Base as a secretary. She later worked at the Turner Memorial Library and in the Presque Isle school system.
She was predeceased by parents, Dr. W. B. Roben and A. Jean Roben; brother, George Roben; and sister, Muriel McEachern.
Surviving in addition to her husband, are six children, James Ledger, Ann Ledger Verrill, John Ledger and wife, Diana, Mary Ledger Walker and husband, Richard, Jayne Ledger Bowler and husband, Steve, and Kathleen Ledger Cassidy and husband, Donald; grandchildren, Celeste Wideman and partner, Benton Easton, Amy Bowler Allen and husband, Derrick, Amanda Verrill Bell and husband, Michael, Jacob Bowler, Jason Walker, Daniel Ledger, Bennett Cassidy and Brock Cassidy; great-grandchildren, Maggie and Finnegan Allen, Violet Wideman-Easton, and Isaac Bell.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 23, at Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord, Our Lady of Wisdom Chapel, Newman
Center, 83 College Ave., Orono. Interment will be at Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Augusta, at a later date.
