SEARSMONT, Maine — A local man remained in jail Monday afternoon after allegedly intentionally using his truck over the weekend to ram a car with another man inside, according to police.

Randall S. Tolman, 49, of Searsmont, grew upset with a male friend of his adult daughter on Sunday afternoon, Sheriff Scott Story of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office said.

“He confronted this man by smashing into his vehicle with his truck,” Story said.

The other man was in his vehicle at the time that Tolman allegedly rammed into it, but police reports do not show that he was injured. Another person called police to report the assault.

Tolman was arrested and charged with felony counts of aggravated criminal mischief and reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, specified to be the truck. He also was charged with driving to endanger and assault with a dangerous weapon. He was taken to Waldo County Jail in Belfast to be booked but was transported to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset. His bail has been set at $1,500 cash or $5,000 surety, a jail official said.

His daughter, Shelby Tolman, 25, was issued a summons at the scene for criminal conspiracy. Story said that he did not have further details on that charge.
