HERMON, Maine — Deputies from the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office were called to the scene of a train derailment late Monday afternoon that shut down traffic near the intersection of Coldbrook and Bog roads for more than four hours, emergency dispatchers confirmed.

The Pan Am Railways derailment occurred shortly before 4:30 p.m., according to dispatchers from the Penobscot County Communications Center. No injuries have been reported and none of the derailed cars overturned as a result of the derailment. The affected roads were reopened shortly before 9 p.m.

Details about the derailment were not immediately available Monday night. Pan Am Executive Vice President Cynthia Scarano was out of the corporate office in Billerica, Mass., on Monday and did not return telephone messages.
