Girl riding bicycle taken to EMMC after being struck by vehicle

BANGOR, Maine — A 9-year-old girl was taken a local hospital Monday night after she was struck by a vehicle while riding her bicycle, city police dispatchers confirmed.

Though few details were immediately available, dispatchers said that the accident happened shortly before 8:30 p.m. in front of the McDonald’s restaurant on Union Street. The girl, who suffered bumps and bruises, was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center for treatment.

Further information about her medical condition was not available Monday night. The accident remains under investigation by the Bangor Police Department.
