STANDISH, Maine — Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a drive-by shooting that occurred in Standish on Thursday evening.

A vehicle heading northbound on Route 113 was passed by another northbound vehicle shortly before 11 p.m., Cumberland County Sheriff Kevin Joyce said, when the passing vehicle fired several shots into the first vehicle.

The victim, who was alone in his vehicle, was struck in the leg, Joyce said.

The victim subsequently chased the assailant northbound but lost the vehicle near the intersection of Routes 113 and 11 in Steep Falls.

The victim was treated for his wounds and released at Maine Medical Center.

Police believe the shooting was not a random act, and anyone with information should call the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office at 893-2810.
