HAMPDEN, Maine — A young man who had recently moved to the area from California has been found safe after being reported missing on Thursday, police said Friday.

Richard Snow, 19, who had moved to Hampden about two weeks ago, was reported missing on Thursday morning by his mother, according to Hampden police Officer Shawn Devine.

Before he had been reported missing, Snow had last spoken to his mother on Wednesday, according to Devine. Shortly after speaking to a BDN reporter, Devine said Snow’s mother had called police Chief Joe Rogers and informed him that she had found her son.

Hampden police had placed a bulletin for agencies in the area to be on watch for Snow and his vehicle, a 2005 Hyundai Elantra, Devine said.

The vehicle had last been seen in Snow’s brother’s driveway on Wednesday.

No information was immediately available on where and how Snow was found.
