BELFAST – Margaret Conway Wolfe “Peggy” passed peacefully on Aug. 5, 2013, in Belfast. Born Nov. 15, 1924, to Mary and Henry Conway of Medford, Mass., Peggy married W. Brewster Wolfe, MD, on June 12, 1948. They were married for 43 years, living in the Newburgh, N.Y., area before he died in 1991.
Peggy is survived by 10 children, Chris (Anne), Greenfield, Wis., Tim (Stephanie), Washington, N.H., Sharron (Paul), Warwick, R.I., Andria, Easthampton, Mass., Elisabeth (Michael), Belfast, Gregory (Barbara), Easton, Mass., Victoria (Selim), Granite Bay, Calif., Brian (Lesle), New Windsor, N.Y., Penelope, Belfast, and Pamela, Decatur, Tenn. Peggy is also survived by sisters, Claire Baldwin Sr., Anne Conway, CSJ, and Laurie Druyor. Peggy had 24 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren who will miss her game-playing enthusiasm. She was predeceased by brother, Matthew; sister, Eileen; son, Lance Alexander; and grandchildren, Liam, Brendan and Shayna.
Peggy welcomed others with a warm smile and acute listening skills. Her Catholic faith and pursuit of education were high priorities-cherishing a hard-earned college degree from Mt. St. Mary’s College, Newburgh, N.Y., earned over nearly two decades while raising her large family. Peggy loved God, family, mysteries, music, the ocean, birds, golf, and games too numerous to mention.
A Mass of Christian burial took place Aug. 9, in Newburgh, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, donations in Peggy’s name may be made to the Retirement Fund for the needs of the Sisters of St. Joseph, CSJ of Boston, Bethany Health Care Center, 97 Bethany Road, Framingham, MA 01702, www.bethanyhealthcare.org/contributions.htm; or to the Audubon Society at support.audubon.org.
