Globetrotters to give local youth first chance to play basketball at Cross Insurance Center


BANGOR, Maine — Youth in the Bangor area will be the first players on the basketball court at the new Cross Insurance Center with the help of the Harlem Globetrotters Friday, Sept. 20.

Members of the Globetrotters will host clinics for children ages 6-14, Friday, Sept. 20 at 1 p.m. (when Bangor public schools are closed) and the next day, also at 1 p.m. The Globetrotters’ games will follow each night at 7.

Globetrotters will be on the court for each two-hour clinic session coaching, motivating and entertaining participating children. Clinics also include talks on bullying prevention and character development.

The clinics are open to both boys and girls of all skill levels.

Space in each clinic is limited to 75 participants. Registration is $50 per session and includes a free game ticket.

The Globetrotters’ games at the Cross Insurance Center are the opening events in the new arena.
