BREWER, Maine — A 22-year old local man is facing a charge after trying to elude a Brewer police officer on foot Tuesday night.

Finn Murray, 22, of Bangor and another man were spotted by Brewer police Officer Fred Luce running from an abandoned building on Center Street, Brewer police Capt. Chris Martin said.

A short time later, Luce found Murray walking along Cedar Street, and when the officer attempted to question him, Murray took off and jumped over a fence, Martin said.

Luce was able to locate Murray behind Holyoke Street, where he was detained and arrested for refusing to submit to arrest, according to Martin.

Witnesses on Holyoke Street also stated to Luce that Murray ran into their apartment and claimed that he was trying to get away from the police.

Murray was brought to Penobscot County Jail and later released on bail.
