Bangor man accused of assault on female family member

By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

BANGOR, Maine — A 50-year old local man was arrested Tuesday morning after an assault on a female family member, according to police.

A verbal argument between Steven Davenport and the victim apparently got out of control Tuesday, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said.

When the victim attempted to leave, Davenport grew more upset and took it as the woman walking out on him, Edwards said.

As the victim sat in her vehicle, Davenport grabbed her, slapped her and punched the windshield, the sergeant said. He had also attempted to turn the car off.

In addition, Davenport also managed to tear the driver’s side windshield wiper off the car, Edwards said.

Davenport was arrested and charged with domestic violence assault and criminal mischief. He was brought to Penobscot County Jail and later released on bail.
