FORT KENT – David “Peppin” Babin Jr., 74, passed away Aug. 4, 2013, at a Fort Kent health care facility. He was born Dec. 12, 1938, in Massachusetts, the son of David Sr. and Maria (Michaud) Babin.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Rosaline Babin; three children, Patrick Daigle of Colorado, Anne Pinette of Canada and Diane Raymond of Orono; multiple grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; three brothers, Don and his wife, Theresa, of Fort Kent, Robert and his wife, Kathy, of New Jersey and Dana and his wife, Rosemary, of Connecticut.
He was a proud veteran having served two years in the Army and then 24 years in the Air Force, most of that time as a security police technician. He last worked for Northern Maine Woods as a gatekeeper out in the Allagash, which he loved. He had also been employed for Irving Forest Products in St. John, for many years before taking his post in the woods. David loved all his family and enjoyed family events and especially enjoyed his cat, Tammy. He was a life time member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9609 and also a member of the American Legion Post No. 0133, both of Fort Kent.
In following his wishes, friends are asked to go directly to St. Louis Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9, followed by Military Honors, outside in front of the church. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate to the Edgar J. Paradis Cancer Fund, 194 East Main St., Fort Kent, ME 04743. Services have been entrusted to Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent.
