WATERBORO, Maine — A Poland man was summoned in connection with an accident that damaged a diesel pump at a Waterboro convenience store, police said.

Craig Matt, 52, is facing charges of leaving the scene of a property damage accident and failure to give notice of an accident by quickest means, both Class E misdemeanors, Chief Deputy William King of the York County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.

Matt was driving a truck owned by P & C Auto of Windham at the time of the crash, King said. He was carrying a Ford Windstar minivan that had two mattresses strapped to the roof.

After backing into the diesel gas pump at Lakeside Market, Matt left the scene down Route 202, King said. The pump sustained between $25,000 and $30,000 in damage.

Matt is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 29.
