SKOWHEGAN, Maine — A Fairfield man who entered a home, attacked its inhabitants and later kicked a police officer in the face was indicted on seven charges related to the incident by a Somerset County grand jury on Thursday.

Ronald Scott Brousseau, 49, was indicted on charges of assault on an officer, two counts of assault, criminal trespass, criminal mischief, violating conditions of release and refusing to submit to arrest.

“It’s a very disturbing incident where some individual who obviously appeared very intoxicated walked into someone’s home and was at the point of impairment where he didn’t know what he was doing,” former interim Fairfield police Chief Joe Massey said of the June 17 incident. “He is someone who was out of control.”

Brousseau allegedly entered a Lawrence Ave. home in Fairfield looking for a woman who did not live there. According to Massey, he got into altercations with three inhabitants of the home, including knocking down an 84-year-old woman and kicking her 44-year-old daughter in the face.

Fairfield police caught up with Brousseau after he left the home, said Massey.

Brousseau allegedly charged at Fairfield police Officer Matt Wilcox, who then hit him with a Taser, but it was ineffective. Brousseau attacked Wilcox, kicking him in the face several times before Wilcox could get away. Wilcox and another officer were able to subdue Brousseau and arrest him.

“He has a long history of being very aggressive and combative,” said Massey.
