BRUNSWICK, Maine — Two local women were charged with assault early Sunday morning after police said they punched and kicked another woman, causing injuries that required treatment at Mid Coast Hospital.

Christine Blackwell, 23, of Bath, and Nicol Barry, 21, of Brunswick, were issued summonses after police allegedly saw the fight just before 1:30 a.m. in the Bank of Maine parking lot, Brunswick Police Deputy Chief Marc Hagan said Monday. Hagan did not know what caused the altercation.

The victim, a 23-year-old Bath woman, was taken to the hospital with facial injuries. Her condition was not available on Monday.
