OLD TOWN, Maine — A Greenbush man is facing a felony charge after he allegedly attempted to sell numerous stolen paddles from Old Town Canoe on Ebay, according to police.

Edward Fowler, 24, was arrested Friday and booked on the Class C charge of theft, according to Old Town police Capt. Kyle Smart. He has since been released on bail.

Earlier last week, Old Town police Officer Brent Fournier had received tips from Old Town Canoe that one of their employees had been stealing canoe paddles from the company, according to Smart.

Prior to contacting police, staff at Old Town Canoe had researched and found the paddles on Ebay, and upon starting the process of purchasing one, the tracking information led police to a Greenbush address.

It turns out Fowler had recruited a neighbor to sell the paddles on Ebay for him, according to Smart. After Fowler’s arrest, $1,900 in paddles were recovered.
