BRUNSWICK, Maine — Five people involved in a three-vehicle crash on Route 1 in Brunswick this afternoon were taken to a Brunswick hospital.

The crash was reported on Route 1 southbound prior to the Maine Street exit at about 3:20 p.m.

Brunswick Police Officer Dan Sylvain said three vehicles were involved in the crash. A white Toyota Camry was stopped in traffic along with a newer Honda Pilot behind it, when Sylvain said a Chevy HHR failed to slow and crashed into the Honda, pushing it into the Toyota.

The Chevy HHR was totaled and the Honda Pilot sustained frame damage.

One driver and four passengers from two of the vehicles were transported to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick with injuries ranging from complaints of neck pain to chest pains, but none that appeared to be life-threatening.
