Woman accused of assaulting boyfriend in Bangor Walmart parking lot

BANGOR, Maine — A woman was arrested Tuesday night after an apparent assault on her boyfriend at Walmart on Stillwater Avenue, police said.

Donna Richards, 52, whose last known address was Surry, is facing a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence assault, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said. She is being held at Penobscot County Jail.

Officer Kyle Pelkey was sent to the store shortly after 10 p.m. when it was reported Richards had punched her boyfriend, according to Edwards.

Richards, who apparently was living out of her car in a park and ride near the store, had been having relationship issues with the man, who wanted to end the relationship, according to Edwards.

As he tried to grab some of his belongings, Richards allegedly assaulted him, the sergeant said.

After an investigation, police had enough evidence to place Richards under arrest.
