Heavy rain throughout Maine brings flood warnings

GRAY, Maine — With steady rain expected to fall throughout the day Tuesday, flood warnings have been issued for much of the state, according to the National Weather Service.

The NWS has issued flood warnings for Androscoggin, Oxford, York, Cumberland and Kennebec counties, and it will remain in effect until 2:30 p.m.

The NWS reported shortly after 8 a.m. that between 1 and 3 inches of heavy rain had already fallen in central New Hampshire and into portions of western Maine.

Another 1-2 inches is expected throughout the morning and early afternoon.
