Emergency responders investigating report of vehicle in water in Roque Bluffs

ROQUE BLUFFS, Maine — Public safety agencies were in Roque Bluffs looking into a report that a vehicle plunged into the ocean off Shoppee Point Road, where there is a boat ramp, a Washington County sheriff’s dispatcher confirmed late Tuesday night.

The dispatcher said there were unconfirmed reports that there may have been people in the vehicle. The call for help came in shortly after 9 p.m. Weather conditions in the area were foggy.

Among the agencies on scene are the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Maine Marine Patrol, U.S. Coast Guard and Jonesport Fire Department.

No other details were immediately available.
