Woman accused of shoplifting at Shaw’s faces felony charge

By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

BANGOR, Maine — A local woman is facing a felony charge after a theft at Shaw’s supermarket on Monday afternoon, police said.

It wasn’t clear in the police report what Kristie Bushey, 29, took from the Main Street store, according to Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards, but Bushey’s prior theft convictions elevated the charge to a felony.

The sergeant said store personnel observed Bushey take two undisclosed items from the store and leave without paying for them.

According to BDN court archives, Bushey was indicted in January for two counts of theft. The archives also indicate she was indicted for domestic violence assault in 2012.

Bushey is being held at the Penobscot County Jail following her arrest, Edwards said.
