ROQUE BLUFFS – Marilyn S. Bagley, 85, died Saturday, July 20, 2013, in Machias. She was born May 26, 1928, in Machias, daughter of the late Hollis and Ruth (Harthorn) Schoppee.
Marilyn graduated from Machias High School, and Washington State Normal School, now the University of Maine, Machais. She taught first grade for the Bangor school department for three years. She, along with her husband Dick, enjoyed many years of Anah Shrine activities. She was also a member of Machias Chapter No. 83 Order of Eastern Star, and a member of Centre Street Congregational Church, Machias.
She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Richard H. Bagley. Together they had two daughters who loved her very much, Mary Beth Gaddis and husband, George, of East Machias, and Ruth Simokaitis and husband, Joseph, of Falmouth ; grandson, Alton Jonathan “A.J.” Simokaitis of Falmouth; and stepgranddaughter, Gillian Linda Gaddis of Portland. She also leaves behind her cat, Molli, who gave her many hours of enjoyment.
A private graveside service will be held at the Great Cove Cemetery, Roque Bluffs, at a later date.
