Doris I. Clair

BUCKSPORT – Doris I. Clair, 95, died July 20, 2013, in Bangor, with her son, Charles, and daughter-in-law, Rita, by her side. Born Jan. 28, 1918, in Bucksport, she was the daughter of Carlton P. and Edna (Bishop) Soper.
Doris attended Bucksport schools. She married Warren H. Clair Sept. 1, 1937, in Bucksport. She was the family’s genealogist. Her homemade donuts and cookies will be fondly remembered by her family. She enjoyed sewing handmade “double ended dolls” and aprons that she sewed on a treadle sewing machine. She was a loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt.
Doris is survived by her son, Charles W. Clair and wife, Rita, of Orland; two grandsons, Fred Clair and wife, Theresa, of Eddington and Peter Clair and wife, Traci, of Bucksport; three great-grandchildren, William and Meghan of Eddington and Nicholas of Bucksport; two sisters, Gladys Belodeau of Bangor and Ethel Lindsey of Orrington; sister-in-law, Katherine Bennett of Orland; several nieces and nephews; and a special niece, Alice Faye Clair of Bar Harbor. She was predeceased by her husband, Warren in 1990; her parents; and three sisters, Alice Clair, Edna C. Hewey and Ada J. Snow.
Visiting hours will be held 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, July 25, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, with the Rev. Peter Remick officiating. The burial will be afterward at Hillside Cemetery, Bucksport.
