BANGOR AND WINTERPORT – Alma M. Hogenhout, 70, went to be with the Lord, July 21, 2013, at her home, surrounded by many friends and family after losing a long battle with cancer. She was born May 6, 1943, in Lincoln, daughter of William Worthing and Dorothy (McLaughlin) McCann.
Alma resided in Bangor until recently and she was living in Winterport with her daughter, Rosa. She earned her high school diploma later in life and also graduated from the University of Maine with a degree in social work with which she impacted many people of whom crossed her paths.
Surviving is three children, Robert Albertson of Old Town, Rosa Collins and husband, Samuel, of Winterport, and Ravonna St. Thomas and husband, Robert, of Bangor; four grandchildren, David and Meagan Lapointe, Jordan Collins and Rhiannon St. Thomas; great-grandchild, Hunter Lapointe; brothers, William Worthing and wife, Barbara, of Greenbush, and Dana Worthing of North Carolina; sisters, Janice Carey of Pea Cove and Susan Worthing of Howland; many cousins with whom she was close; and nieces and nephews. She will also be remembered by her longtime companion, Kenneth Hebert of Winterport; and by her former husband, Robert Albertson of Passadumkeag. She will be remembered for her fun loving spirit and enormous heart. So when you see a butterfly or wish upon a rainbow, remember Grammie/Gee.
Family and friends may visit 1-3 p.m. Thursday, July 25, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor. A graveside service will be held 3:30 p.m. Thursday, immediately after the visitation at Howland Cemetery, Howland, with Pastor Thomas Channell presiding.
