PORTLAND, Maine — State police have confirmed that Interstate 295 has reopened to traffic, but cautioned that there may be delays at times today as workers adjust utility lines over the highway.
According to the Maine Department of Public Safety, the highway was closed overnight when a utility pole fell into the highway. Police had recommended Interstate 95 as an alternate route.
State police said the lines fell when an excavator hit a utility pole at a construction site at around 1 a.m. The interstate was closed for about 5 hours and reopened after 6 a.m.
