AUGUSTA, Maine — A New York City man is facing drug charges after he was arrested Thursday on suspicion of trafficking heroin and cocaine, police said.

Allen “Bones” James, 31, is facing eight counts of aggravated trafficking in heroin and crack cocaine, according to Maine Drug Enforcement Agency commander Darrell Crandall.

MDEA agents had been investigating James for several months, during which agents purchased drugs from him on several occasions, Crandall said.

James had appeared in court to assist another man with bail, the commander said, and was nabbed by police after a brief struggle.

James is being held at the Kennebec County Jail on $75,000 cash bail.
