BANGOR, Maine — Brewer’s Jeff Weeks pitched a complete game two-hitter to give the Falcons the third seed in the upcoming American Legion Zone 1 baseball tourney with a 2-0 victory over Motor City Thursday night at Husson University’s Winkin Complex.
Motor City ends its regular season with a 12-9 record and will play Penquis at 7 p.m. Sunday at Winkin in the Nos. 4-5 play-in game, which determines the final seed in the double-elimination Zone 1 tourney that follows the next day.
Weeks struck out seven and walked just one batter and was aided by an errorless Falcons defense.
Brewer got on the board when Ben Pushard reached third base on an error on a ball hit to center to begin the third inning. Pushard scored with one out on a wild pitch.
The Falcons extended their lead with a leadoff walk in the fifth to Carter DeRedin, who was sacrificed to second by Pushard and scored on Chase Allen’s single.

At Hampden, Dillon Corliss allowed only two hits to help Hampden roll by Trenton.
Corliss struck out eight and walked just one as Hampden improved to 16-4.
Spencer Hartsgrove backed up his pitcher with four singles and three RBI while Matt Palmer cranked a two-run home run and an RBI triple.
Anthony Bianco and Hank Vinall each singled for 6-14 Trenton.

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, Ben Chrichton recorded a triple, three singles and four RBI to help Bangor improve to 19-1.
Nick Ashey chipped in with three singles and two RBI for Bangor and Tyler LaPlante added a triple and single. Ryan Brookings doubled and drove in a run while Curtis Worcester added an RBI triple.
Kaleb Smith doubled for 10-10 Penquis, Brandon Spratt contributed with an RBI single and Dylan Graffam singled.
