Carmel woman injured in rollover accident

CARMEL, Maine — A 52-year-old woman was taken to a Bangor hospital Monday for treatment of injuries she suffered in a rollover crash in her hometown.

Michele Brown of Carmel was traveling east on Horseback Road about 11:30 a.m., when her red Mazda Miata left the roadway, struck some trees and then rolled over, pinning her underneath, Deputy Stephen Marko of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.

Marko said that firefighters who arrived at the accident called a tow truck to lift the car off of Brown, who appeared to have head injuries. Marko said it was not yet clear what caused the car to leave the roadway, and that it did not appear that Brown was wearing a seatbelt.

The accident remained under investigation on Thursday, Marko said.
