Adrian J. ‘Peg’ Bernaiche


FORT FAIRFIELD – Adrian J. “Peg” Bernaiche, 91, beloved husband of Mrs. Yvette M. Bernaiche, passed away Sunday afternoon, July 14, 2013, at a Presque Isle nursing facility, after an extended illness. He was born Sept. 27, 1921, in Stockholm, son of Levi and Phoebe (Derosier) Bernaiche.
He attended school in Stockholm and was married to Yvette M. Bosse` July 23, 1951. Mr. Bernaiche had been employed by Atlas Plywood Company for 15 years and had also been self-employed as a shoemaker in both Houlton and Fort Fairfield for a number of years. Mr. Bernaiche had been a resident of Fort Fairfield since 1959 where he was a dedicated communicant of Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield, and a 3rd degree member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 1753.
He was predeceased by his parents, Levi Bernaiche and Phoebe Bernaiche Boutot; two brothers, Robert Bernaiche and Lomen Boutot; and sister, Ernestine Pelkey. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Yvette M. Bernaiche of Fort Fairfield: three sons, Roger Bernaiche of Fort Fairfield, Daniel Bernaiche and wife, Denise, of Bristol, Conn., and Gerald Bernaiche of Westbrook; daughter, Charlene Argraves and husband, Oscar, of Fort Fairfield; brother, Albert Boutot of New Britain, Conn.; sister, Arlene Doody of Caribou; 12 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, July 18, at Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, 147 Main St., Fort Fairfield, with Father Emile Dube, celebrant. Interment will take place at St. Denis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held after the interment at Knights of Columbus Hall Council No. 1753, 260 Main St., Fort Fairfield.
