By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

BREWER, Maine — A Waterville man was arrested early Saturday after an assault at a Brewer motel, police said.

Deon Cheers, 35, is accused of domestic violence assault, according to Brewer police Capt. Chris Martin.

Officers had responded to the Wilson Street motel shortly before 4 a.m. and upon arrival found Cheers on top of his girlfriend, the captain said.

“He was pulling her hair as well,” said Martin.

Investigation determined Cheers had assaulted the woman and he was arrested and brought to Penobscot County Jail, Martin said. He has since been released on bail.
