BREWER, Maine — A 26-year old local man was arrested early Saturday after an assault on his girlfriend, police said.
Jeffrey Burditt’s arrest for domestic violence assault wasn’t his only run-in with Brewer police that night, according to Capt. Chris Martin.
Officers had responded to the woman’s address earlier in the evening to issue Burditt a disorderly conduct warning, Martin said.
Shortly before 2 a.m., police fielded a call that an assault had occurred at the same address, Martin said.
The victim had locked Burditt out of the residence and he was sitting in his truck pretending to be asleep, the captain said. Burditt had apparently punched the victim in the head, grabbed her by the neck and pushed her to the ground, while threatening to harm her further if she called police.
Burditt was placed under arrest and brought to Penobscot County Jail. He was later released on bail.
