This is your chance to showcase your photography skills, claim bragging rights and have your photo displayed on the second day of Belfast Arts in the Park, Sunday, July 14. If you win, your photo will be featured on bangordailynews.com and printed in the Bangor Daily News on July 17, 2013.

Here’s what we’re asking you to do: Upload your original photos that best capture the spirit of midcoast Maine. This year’s topic is “working on the waterfront in midcoast Maine.”

Be sure to include a short caption with each photo. While there aren’t any categories, our panel of judges wants to be wowed with your creativity, or perhaps the  special history behind your photo.

Check back for the gallery of entries.  Ten semifinalists will be chosen to be displayed at Belfast Arts in the Park.

Official Rules

How to enter: Enter by uploading your photos and captions on bangordailynews.com or BDN Maine Midcoast Facebook Page. All entries for must be received by noon July 13, 2013.

Prize: Semifinalists will have photos displayed at the Belfast Arts in the Park July 14, 2013.  The winner’s photo will be featured on bangordailynews.com and the Bangor Daily News in print on July 17, 2013.

Eligibility: Midcoast Photo Contest is open to residents of the United States, its commonwealths, territories, and possessions, 18 years of age and older except employees of BDN Maine/Bangor Daily News, their parent company, affiliates, subsidiaries and agencies.

General: No responsibility is assumed for problems or technical malfunctions of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software failure of any email entry to be received by BDN Maine because of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, or any combination thereof, as well as lost, misdirected, illegible or late entries which for any reason are not received by the judges.

“Entry” is defined by submitting a photograph and photo caption. By submitting an entry, Entrant promises that the photo is his/her original work and gives BDN Maine his/her permission to feature his/her name, hometown, and photograph submitted on the website and any media and/or print material at BDN Maine’s will and disposition.

Winner consents to use his/her name and likeness, as well as winning photograph, for publicity purposes without additional compensation except where prohibited by law. Entrant is responsible for all online charges incurred by Internet Service Provider. Federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. Entrant acknowledges that BDN Maine/Bangor Daily News shall retain rights to publish the photograph online and in any print media. Moreover, Entrant acknowledges that BDN Maine/Bangor Daily News may authorize use of Winner’s name and likeness, and photograph in connection with the contest and in promoting, advertising, and publicizing its website, programs and information products and services. In the event any complaint or claim relating to the photograph is made by any third party at any time, whether a formal legal complaint or otherwise, Entrant promises that he/she will fully indemnify BDN Maine/Bangor Daily News, and contest sponsor, for the defense of complaint or claim and will cooperate with BDN Maine/Bangor Daily News in the defense of the claim. BDN Maine/Bangor Daily News reserves the right to terminate “Midcoast Photo Contest” contest at any time. Rules subject to change without notice.
