WARREN, Maine — The Board of Selectmen will begin reviewing next week the 28 applications for the town manager post.

Board Chairman Doug Pope said the board will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday and he expects the members to pare down the number of potential candidates by the end of that meeting.

This will be the second search that the board has held in an effort to fill the town manager vacancy created when Grant Watmough retired on Nov. 8. In the first round, there were 30 candidates and after interviews of several of the candidates, the board decided to not offer the position to any of them.

Glenn Aho has served as interim manager since Watmough’s departure but has said he is not interested in the post on a more permanent basis.
