BELFAST, Maine — Two Belfast residents are facing drug trafficking charges after the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, along with Belfast police and state troopers, executed a search warrant Wednesday night at the inn at which the two were staying.

Asgard Tarik Gilbert, 39, and Anna Congdon, 24, were arrested, according to Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety. Both suspects were charged with selling heroin, McCausland said.

The drug raid and subsequent arrests occurred at The Admiral’s Ocean Inn in Belfast. Seized from Gilbert and Congdon’s room were 100 bags of heroin, 36 oxycodone pills, digital scales and $1,000 in cash, McCausland said.

McCausland said drug agents say the couple intended to sell the heroin in Waldo County. Both were taken to the Waldo County Jail.

Congdon has been released on $250 bail, a jail official said. Gilbert was being held on $10,000 bail. He is scheduled to make a court appearance in Wiscasset on Friday.

McCausland said the investigation into alleged drug trafficking continues and further arrests are expected
