Holbrook scored three runs in the fourth, two in fifth and three in the sixth to pull away from Brewer and secure a spot in the quarterfinal round by improving to 2-0 with an 8-4 victory in the District 3 Little League baseball tourney for ages 11-12 Monday.
Holbrook will play on Friday against an opponent and location to be determined while 0-1 Brewer will host Orrington on Wednesday, with the winner advancing to the quarterfinals.
Jacob Miller sparked Holbrook with a two-run home run over the fence in left in the fifth inning. He also doubled and finished with four RBI. Levi Williamson added two doubles, a single and scored twice while Nate Laskey doubled.
Evan Andrews cranked a home run for Brewer while Josiah Cyr added two doubles and scored two runs.

At Newport, Nolan Porter’s RBI, game-winning single in the bottom of the sixth capped a three-run rally that gave Houlton the victory.
Tyler Bailey sparked 1-1 Houlton with a single, double and two RBI while Andrew Tuttle chipped in with two singles and an RBI. Keegan Gentle added a double, single and RBI, Nick Perfitt notched a single and RBI and Nick Brewer had a single and two RBI.
For 0-1 Sebasticook, Tyler Seavey singled twice and drove in three runs. Hunter Bubar added a double and RBI while Ethan Newcomb and Jacob Bickford each also had a double. Zach Hartsgrove and Sam Smestad each added a single, with Smestad driving in a run.

At Demeyer Field in Ellsworth, Isaiah Pinkham singled, doubled and drove in two runs to help Moosebec edge the Downeast Family YMCA of Ellsworth.
Brady Reynolds added a single for Moosebec and was also the starting pitcher, striking out 10.
Tanner Ashley tripled, singled and drove in two runs to spark Downeast. Seth Boyer, Lucas Wheeler, Alex Foster and Ethan Merchant each added a single for Downeast, with Boyer driving in two runs and Wheeler plating one.

At Rockland, South Lewiston eliminated Ellsworth 7-2 and Kennebunk ousted Rockland 13-0 in the state Little League softball tourney.
South Lewiston and Kennebunk will meet at 5:30 p.m. in an elimination contest that’s a rematch of each team’s first game of the tourney, won by Lewiston.
In Monday’s first game, South Lewiston sent nine batters to the plate and scored five runs in the second inning, en route to the victory.
Jordan Mynahan had a double and a single to lead South Lewiston, and Meagan Gosselin also added two singles. Mynahan was the staring pitcher as well, and gave up one run on three hits, striking out three and giving up no walks.
Emily Mousseau pitched the final four innings to pick up the win, giving up one run on one hit, striking out two and walking two.
For Ellsworth, Katelynn Bagley and Madison Thornton each had a single and scored a run to lead the offense.
In the second game, Kennebunk scored four in the first and never looked back, cruising to the win.
Bailey Cain and Britney Gregoire each had three hits to pace Kennebunk, and Kylie Defeo and Lindsey Gregoire added two hits each.
Olivia Howe, Defeo, and Cain each pitched two full innings, with Howe being awarded the win. Howe surrendered no runs, no hits, struck out four and walked none.
Hope Butler and Gilleyanne Davis-Oakes each singled to account for Rockland’s two hits.
