BERWICK, Maine — Police went to Aroma Joe’s on Route 9 after the report of a stolen tip jar last Friday.

At 11 a.m. June 28, employees of the coffee shop told police that a gold-colored van driven by a female with blond hair, wearing glasses and who had eyebrow and lip piercings, lunged out of her vehicle and grabbed the jar.

Before the theft, police say the woman ordered a coffee and was accompanied with a man who was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt.

After placing their order at one window, the van pulled forward to the second window. The man got out of the van and then walked back to the first window to order another drink.

Surveillance shows the man appeared to have unhooked the chain that secured the tip jar when the employee’s back was turned. The man then walked back to the van, leaving the tip jar in place.

After receiving their coffee, the pair left the area.

Employees reported the van then returned approximately 10 minutes later to complain that a coffee was not made correctly. The same female who drove the van was now wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt.

The employee went to make a new coffee and left the window. The female then grabbed the tip jar and sped off through the Aroma Joe’s drive-thru. The van took a right onto Route 9 and traveled toward Somersworth, N.H.
