William T. ‘Bill’ Brown

SOUTH PORTLAND AND MILLINOCKET LAKE – William T. “Bill” Brown, 61, died suddenly at his camp on Millinocket Lake. He was born Dec. 24, 1951, in Bangor, the son of John and Geraldine (Colby) Brown.

Bill grew up in Millinocket, and was a graduate of Stearns High School. He went to the University of Maine at Orono, where he graduated with a B.S. in Mathematics, and earned his Master’s Degree from the University of Southern Maine. Bill was a teacher at South Portland High School for more than 20 years, and then at Westbrook Vocational School, before retiring in 2010. An outdoorsman at heart, Bill loved hiking, camping, and spending time at his camp. He enjoyed playing cribbage, and was an avid reader. Bill also loved travelling, and took many trips with his wife, Janice, visiting the National Parks – Yosemite, Yellowstone, Zion, Mesa Verde, and Banff National Park in Canada.

Bill is survived by his wife, Janice Sullivan of South Portland; a nephew, Evan Brown of Plano, Texas; his sister-in-law, Anne Brown of Bradenton, Fla.; his aunt, Peggy; and many cousins and friends.
