BANGOR, Maine — A man with a lengthy criminal history was charged with assault early Thursday morning, police said.

Officers were called to a Everett Street residence shortly after midnight when the homeowner wanted Chance Scott, 46, to leave, according to Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards.

Scott, a Bangor transient, is an acquaintance of the homeowner, the sergeant said.

The homeowner also told police that Scott punched him, according to Edwards. Police summoned Scott for assault but he was not arrested.

According to court listings printed in the Bangor Daily News, Scott’s most recent brush with the law occurred in September 2011, when he was charged with criminal threatening for threatening a pizza delivery man.

In 2006, he was sentenced to spend two years in jail for his role in a Washington County drug bust that was known as Operation Oxi Kleen, according to the archives.
