Teenage boy struck by lightning in Lebanon

LEBANON, Maine — A teenage boy was struck by lightning Sunday during severe thunderstorms escaped major injury, according to officials.

Lebanon Rescue Assistant Chief Jason Cole said the call was reported shortly after 8:30 p.m. Sunday. The boy’s name and age were not released.

The boy was inside his family’s home when a bolt of lightning was seen in the house by the family, Cole said. The bolt of lightning struck him when it went across the room.

The boy was conscious when medical personnel arrived, Cole said, and was treated at Goodall Hospital in Sanford.

Thunderstorms with hail, lightning and heavy rain had struck southern York County on Sunday evening, Cole said.
