NEW SHARON, Maine — A man from Canada is being held on $50,000 cash bail at a Farmington jail in connection to a motor-vehicle accident early Monday that left a New Sharon teenager with a possible head injury.

The 15-year-old boy was a passenger in a truck driven by Adam King, 20, of Newfoundland, said Franklin County Lt. David Rackliffe. King is said to have lost control of the pickup truck on Weeks Mills Road and it ended up in a ditch about 12:30 a.m., Lt. Detective David St. Laurent said.

The accident is under investigation.

The boy is listed in stable condition at Maine Medical Center, Rackliffe said. He was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington by a NorthStar EMS ambulance and then transferred to the Portland hospital.

King received minor injuries and was treated at the scene by ambulance personnel, but declined to be taken to a hospital, Rackliffe said.

Deputy Nicholas Zecher arrested King on a felony charge of operating under the influence causing serious injury, he said. He was taken to Franklin County jail in Farmington.

Zecher responded to the accident and found King and the teenager outside of a 1992 GMC pickup.

The owner of the truck, Jeffrey Thomas of Harmony, reported the truck stolen after the crash, Rackliffe said.

Deputy Nate Reid responded to assist Zecher at the scene. New Sharon Fire Rescue Department members also responded to assist.

County detectives Steve Charles and Ken Charles, and Deputy Matt Brann were reconstructing the accident Monday morning, St. Laurent said.
