BANGOR — Bangor’s Curtis Worcester settled in after Motor City scored a run in the second inning to go the distance in a 6-1 American Legion baseball victory Sunday at Husson University’s Winkin Complex.
Worcester struck out 12 batters, allowed just four hits over nine innings while yielding two walks and hitting two batters.
Bangor (5-0) put up six runs over the final three innings, led by a three-run seventh inning.That inning was highlighted by Kyle Stevenson’s two-RBI single. Hunter Boyce added an RBI single in the eighth inning and Justin Courtney and Andrew Hillier added RBI singles apiece in the ninth inning.
Hillier and Boyce led Bangors 12-hit attack with three singles. Stevenson chipped in with two singles.
Motor City (2-3) was led by D.J. Monteith who had an RBI double in the second inning and added a single in the ninth inning.

At Calais, Shawn Smith drove in five runs with a home run, double and three singles to back winning pitcher Kaleb Cook.
Will Perkins and Connor Farmer each chipped in with three RBI for the winners with Perkins notching a triple and single and Farmer adding two singles. Nick Rogerson contributed two singles.
For Calais, Tyler Varney, Nick Barnes, Scott Boies and John Cushing each recorded two singles with Varney driving in two runs and Barnes plating one.
